Think or Swim (TOS) is one of the most popular trading platforms, and importing your data into Practice—Process is straightforward. Here's how to do it.

Exporting from Think or Swim

Import Settings in Practice—Process

Field Mapping

Practice—Process automatically maps TOS fields:

  • Symbol → Instrument
  • Side → Direction
  • Qty → Position Size
  • Price → Entry/Exit Price
  • Date/Time → Timestamp
  • Tips for Clean Imports

Handle Options: If you trade options, ensure your TOS export includes the underlying symbol. Practice—Process can group options trades with their underlying for analysis.

Commission Handling: TOS exports include commissions. We extract these and show them separately in your P&L breakdown.

Partial Fills: TOS sometimes shows multiple rows for partial fills. We automatically aggregate these into single trades.

    Automating Imports

For Pro users, enable automatic sync: 1. Go to SettingsBroker Connections 2. Click Connect Think or Swim 3. Authorize read-only access 4. Set sync frequency (hourly, daily, or manual)

Your trades will now flow into Practice—Process automatically, ready for journaling and analysis.
