Setting Up and Using Rule Adherence Tracking
Configure your personal trading rules and track adherence to quantify the cost of discipline lapses.
Rule adherence tracking measures how consistently you follow your own trading rules and calculates the financial impact of every deviation.
Setting Up Your Rules
Step 1: Define Your Rules
Navigate to Settings then Trading Rules. Click Add Rule to create each rule.
Rules are grouped into four categories:
Entry Rules
Risk Rules
Exit Rules
Behavioural Rules
Step 2: Set Priority
Assign each rule a priority (High, Medium, Low). High-priority rule violations carry more weight in the adherence score.
Step 3: Activate
Toggle each rule to Active. Only active rules are tracked.
Logging Adherence
After each trade, the rule checklist appears in your post-trade review:
Completing the checklist takes approximately 15 seconds per trade.
The Adherence Dashboard
Navigate to Analytics then Rule Adherence to see:
Overall Adherence Score
A percentage representing how often you follow your active rules. Displayed as a large number with a trend arrow.
Rule-by-Rule Breakdown
A table showing each rule with its individual adherence rate. Sort by adherence to quickly identify your most frequently broken rules.
Cost of Broken Rules
The headline figure: "You would have saved [amount] by following your rules perfectly." This is calculated by comparing average outcomes of rule-following trades against rule-breaking trades.
Per-Rule Cost
Each rule shows its own cost figure. Sort by cost to see which rule violations are most expensive. Typically, stop loss violations and position sizing violations top the list.
Adherence Over Time
The trend chart shows your weekly adherence percentage. Look for:
Linking to Performance
The Performance Overlay tab plots your adherence score alongside your equity curve. The correlation is typically visible and motivating—high adherence periods produce smooth equity growth.
